The People Behind Pingu Beachhouse

Pingu Beachhouse began as a family dream � a place by the sea where people can arrive, slow down and truly feel at home. What started as a personal retreat has grown into a carefully curated beachfront hideaway, welcoming guests from all over the world to experience coastal living at its best.�

Behind Pingu Beachhouse is a small, hands-on team united by a love for the ocean, thoughtful design and genuine hospitality.�

On-Site Host | Your Local Connection

Christoph has called Hout Bay home since 2007�and knows the area like the back of his hand. As the on-site host, he is your main contact during your stay � welcoming guests, coordinating check-ins and check-outs, and helping with anything that makes your time at Pingu Beachhouse effortless and memorable.�

Inspired by an active yet relaxed coastal lifestyle, Christoph enjoys cycling, e-biking, padel, tennis, golf and spending time by the sea. As a Rotarian and co-founder of the Snipers Hout Bay Basketball Club, he is deeply connected to the local community.�

He also runs Cape Lion E-bikes, offering guided e-bike tours and rentals � a unique way to explore Hout Bay, Chapman�s Peak and the surrounding coastline in a fun and sustainable way.

Gregor B�umer

Owner | Guest Experience & Operations

Gregor is the owner of Pingu Beachhouse and your main contact for bookings and guest communication. Based in Munich, he oversees reservations, guest experience and the overall operation of the house � ensuring that every stay runs smoothly from first contact to check-out.�

With a strong focus on quality, structure and long-term vision, Gregor brings together hospitality, organization and a genuine passion for creating exceptional stays. His goal is simple: guests should feel well cared for, relaxed and inspired from the very first moment.

Stephanie Purtscher-Gardemann

Interior Architect & Designer | Concept & Style

Stephanie is the creative mind behind the look and feel of Pingu Beachhouse. As an interior architect and designer, she developed the design concept and interiors, carefully shaping the atmosphere, materials and colour palette to reflect relaxed, modern beachfront living.

Her work goes beyond aesthetics � she continuously refines the style, visual identity and overall mood of the house, ensuring that Pingu Beachhouse feels both elegant and effortless. Stephanie is also involved in brand communication and positioning, helping translate the spirit of the house into a consistent and memorable guest experience.
